Shoulder Ribbon Summer Blouse
I finally got around to sewing a blouse I had cut out about a year ago.
The wide boat neck and ribbons on the shoulders add a feminine taste to this piece.
I chose a mint green striped cotton and because I wanted to wear it during the summer, I cut off the sleeves which were originally below the elbow and puffy with elastic added to the hem. However, it kind of made it look awkward with that small bit of sleeve added on. And with my sloping shoulders, it's pretty hard to keep the bow part from sliding off. I will need to think of a way to alter it - maybe some additional piece on the shoulder? Or a tuck in the center?
A T-shirt before this didn't turn out as expected either and has now become my room wear.
Well, you'll just have to learn from your mistakes!
Thankfully the pattern I had copied from a book I borrowed at the library, and the fabric is from my mom's pile at home, which means the cost is zero.
Pattern: Blouse "L" from the Japanese sewing book "Sarigenaku Amai Fuku" by Noriko Sasahara

It looks very cute, I actually have this book and I want to to make this top now that I've seen yours :) I think the best solution if you want the shoulder parts to drop down less is to tuck in a vertical pleat at the centre of the neckline.
ReplyDeleteCecili, thank you so much for your advise! I have bought one of those bra catchers, so I will try out both and see which one will work best for me (maybe both?). I'm glad I've inspired you to make this blouse. Will be looking forward to seeing them on the Burda project showcase or on your blog!
