Calligraphy Meets Kanji
I was into making original postcards when I was in high school. Mostly with calligraphy that I was really into at that time, ink, and washi paper.
Some I still have, not being able to give them away.
But what is the point of a postcard just being stored away in a box? So I've finally decided to write a summer greeting to a friend, and this post is a record of it before I do.
This one, I wrote the kanji that means "summer", and made the wave like design using a swab. I used to learn Japanese calligraphy (shuji or shodo) from age 8 to 14, going to classes every week, and still love those silent moments where it's just you, the paper and brush. So I guess the idea of mixing both cultures came pretty naturally.
The stamps I just bought the other day. It is a sticker type with summer veggies on them.
